Filming at 10 South
10 South sits in the heart of historic downtown Janesville, and it is the venue we have filmed more than any other on this site. Three weddings, three completely different visions, and the space carried all of them. The ballroom's soaring ceilings and dramatic drapery give a wedding film a sense of scale that very few Wisconsin venues can match, and the wide open floor plan means we can move through the room without ever crowding your guests.
What we love most is how the room responds to light. During the day, the space feels bright and airy, and once the reception lighting takes over, it turns rich and moody in the best way. We plan our camera positions around that shift, so the ceremony feels soft and timeless while the dance floor feels electric. Rachel and Michael's late-November wedding proved the venue films just as beautifully in the cold months, when downtown Janesville has a quiet, cinematic stillness to it.
Because we have worked this room three times, we already know where the best angles live: the wide establishing shots that show off the ballroom's grandeur, the tighter frames that keep vows intimate, and the spots where the light flatters everyone. Getting ready
Wherever you choose to get ready, we recommend a room with as much window light as possible. Downtown Janesville also gives us charming brick and storefront backdrops just steps from the venue, which we love to use for a quick first look or portrait walk before the ceremony.
Ceremony to reception flow
One of 10 South's biggest strengths on film is that the whole day can live under one roof. When the ceremony and reception share the space, we use the room flip as a natural chapter break in your film, and your guests never lose momentum between the vows and the party.
Our favorite moment
The first dance. When the ballroom lights come down and the drapery catches the glow, the room feels enormous and intimate at the same time. Every one of our three films at 10 South has a first dance sequence we are genuinely proud of.
